Guided channel activation for local/tmux users — adds a channel entry when none is configured, installs the plugin, configures the bot token in the project-local state dir, and walks through pairing. Run after hatch, or any time to add or re-enable a channel.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. # Channel Setup
Activate a channel, adding the `config.json` entry first when there isn't one. Local/tmux pairing is this skill's own flow; a Docker hermit is routed by the check below.

## Plan
### 1. Read config and detect channels
**Runtime routing (first):** evaluate in this order.
1. **Inside the container.** Run `[ -f /.dockerenv ] || [ -f /run/.containerenv ] && echo container || echo host`. If `container`: read `.hermit/config.json`. For each enabled channel object, resolve `state_dir` as step 4 does (config `state_dir`, default `.claude.local/channels/<channel>`; if relative, make it absolute against the project root) and print that absolute path literally. Print and stop:
> DM the bot for a code, then run `/hermitd:channel-setup` from a normal host session at the project root.
If no enabled channel, print only the host-run sentence and stop. No `AskUserQuestion` on this path.
2. **No compose file.** If `docker-compose.hermit.yml` is absent at the project root, continue with the local/tmux flow below.

How to install
mdr add gtapps/hermitd/channel-setup@sha256:d15f9baf31e13c16The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261019.12f1cfb, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
