dependency-trace from checkpickerupper/skills is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add checkpickerupper/skills/dependency-trace@git:20261021.61c15fbPins git:20261021.61c15fb in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Dependency trace: clarify scope, close the recursive capability graph, and derive the correctness order before implementation. Use when the user asks what a feature uses, what its dependencies use, dependency order, foundations, or a lowest-to-highest flow.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Dependency trace Dependency trace is the leading word for finding the complete correctness road from foundational contracts to higher behavior. <what-to-do> Enter dependency-trace mode when the user asks for dependency order, foundations, the correct road, a lowest-to-highest flow, what a feature uses, or what its dependencies use. Run the scope gate before searching the repository or naming an issue. </what-to-do> <supporting-info> Ordinary planning asks what can be built first. Dependency trace first closes the complete capability surface, then asks what must exist for that surface to be correct. Those are different orders. </supporting-info> ## Procedure <what-to-do> ### 1. Clarify and lock scope Read the preceding conversation before choosing the target. Preserve the user's quantifiers and constraints. “Every,” “all,” “full,” “complete,” “proper,” and “system-wide” establish capability-complete scope. A request for “what next” inherits the established scope; it does not narrow it to the nearest issue or first runnable path. When the conversation leaves the scope open and the choice would change the …

How to install
mdr add checkpickerupper/skills/dependency-trace@sha256:1adbe19694846264The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261021.61c15fb, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
