Select, design, label, and verify charts and data displays that help users interpret evidence accurately and accessibly.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Data visualization
## When to use
Use for analytics dashboards, reports, metrics, charts, tables, trend comparisons, financial summaries, monitoring views, or any interface that presents quantitative information for decisions.
## Workflow
### 1. Clarify the decision
Identify the question the reader must answer, the metric definition, units, population, time range, aggregation, source, and relevant caveats. Do not start by choosing a chart. If the data cannot answer the question, state the limitation.
### 2. Match encoding to the task
- Compare categories: usually a bar or dot plot with a clear common baseline.
- Show change over ordered time: line charts when continuity is meaningful; bars for discrete periods when comparison is clearer.
- Show composition: stacked bars for comparisons, or a part-to-whole chart only when the number of parts and comparisons make it legible.
- Show distributions: histogram, box plot, or dot plot depending on sample size and audience.
- Show relationships: scatter plot when both variables and their units matter.
- Show exact values or dense detail: a sortable, labeled table may be better than a chart.

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261010.9af2a23, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
A 17 of 17 checks passed. Fixed automatic checks with no AI involved, so the same checks give the same answer every run.
