Multi-part assemblies — assembly(), parts, connectors, 7 mate types, fixed and revolute joints, .model()/.solvedModel(). Use for any model with two or more mechanical parts that need joint metadata.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# kernelCAD — assemblies
Use `assembly()` when the model needs named mechanical parts, connector frames, and joint metadata that a human or agent can inspect later. Call `.model()` after adding parts to return a `Scene` with per-part bodies; iterate `.parts` for per-part rendering / export, call `.toCompound()` to group bodies without booleaning (keeps color, name, and identity; default for STEP), or `.toUnion()` for one fused solid (lossy on color/name — antipattern except when downstream truly needs a single Shape). Connector and joint records remain metadata for now; `.model()` does not solve motion (use `.solvedModel(poses)` for that). Use MCP `inspect({ of: 'assemblies', file? code? })` to inspect the captured assembly intent without recomputing topology.
## Assembly validity
`kernelcad validate <file.kcad.ts>` runs the assembly validator over the script's Scene. Three checks today:

How to install
mdr add w1ne/kernelcad-web/kernelcad-assemblies@sha256:af7fb41d831deed5The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261019.29421fa, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
