Message a person or a channel on Slack through the team's Brigade Slack gateway: the `slack` skill (`brigade:slack <to> <text>` sends the text to `@name`, `#channel`, an email address or a Slack id, as a Brigade message to the gateway session, which posts it; `--summary "<line>"`, `--reply-to <message-id>` (answer in the person's own Slack thread, no `<to>`) and `--body-file <path>` are the only flags. Use when the user asks to Slack someone, to message, tell, ask or notify a person or a…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Message a person on Slack through the team's gateway A team may have a Slack gateway: a hosted member whose session (`slack-gateway`, harness `gateway-slack`) posts what it is sent to Slack and carries what people write back. This skill sends one message to it. `$ARGUMENTS` is what came after the command name: typed by the user through the `slack` skill (`brigade:slack`, or passed by you when they asked in words and you loaded this skill — their address and their words, never ones you chose. 1. Read `$ARGUMENTS`, ignoring surrounding whitespace. These are the only forms: | `$ARGUMENTS` | Meaning | | --- | --- | | `<to> <text>` | a new message to `<to>` | | `<to> --summary "<one line>" <text>` | the same, with a one-line summary | | `<to> --body-file <path>` | the body from a file the user named | | `--reply-to <message-id> <text>` | an answer in the thread of the Slack message that `<message-id>` carried | `<to>` is `@name`, `#channel`, an email address, or a Slack user or channel id — the forms the gateway's `to:` line resolves — and it is the first word. It must contain no whitespace or line break. It is required …

How to install
mdr add appshapes/brigade/slack@sha256:56f19fa578776285The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261017.a9fa483, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
