Reproduce a real-world artifact from one or more reference photographs using kernelCAD primitives. Orchestrator skill — names sub-skills and their order. Load this first; it points at the right sub-skill for each stage.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# kernelCAD — from reference (orchestrator)
Reproduce a real-world artifact from one or more reference photographs using
kernelCAD primitives. This is an orchestrator skill that names sub-skills and
their order. Read this first; then load each sub-skill in sequence as you
work through the stages.

Have an engineering drawing as a vector PDF (orthographic views + lettered
dimensions)? → call `drawing_to_cad` first (see "Engineering drawing PDF"
below). A scanned / photographed drawing is a photo: use the photo path.
Have a written spec with numeric dimensions? → just read kernelcad-authoring
+ use-the-available-kernel,
build single-pass, score.
Simple front-on consumer electronics or passive enclosures with a photo and a
known dimension? → read `photo-to-device/SKILL.md` before blockout. Its
hosted-vs-local reference-asset rule controls generic
`referenceImage()` advice for this path; it is not a mesh
concept or mechanism workflow.

How to install
mdr add w1ne/kernelcad-web/kernelcad-from-reference@sha256:b3bbc63fe48f9fe4The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261014.54c2106, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
