Author or review localized Tale UI messages, documentation, regional overrides, and glossary terms. Preserve meaning and exact UI labels while writing naturally in each locale, and verify key, content, and ICU parity. Read before editing non-English messages or docs or adding a locale.

# Write each language for its readers Tale addresses readers as a helpful peer: `you` in English, `du` in German and Swiss German, and `tu` in French. Preserve that relationship and the complete meaning. A good translation uses the syntax and vocabulary a reader expects in their language; it does not preserve English sentence shapes merely because they came first. ## Establish scope and sources Read the repo contract, then the applicable locale guide: [English](locales/en/AGENTS.md), [German](locales/de/AGENTS.md), [French](locales/fr/AGENTS.md), or [Swiss German](locales/de-CH/AGENTS.md). For docs, also follow [write-docs](../write-docs/SKILL.md) and the [local content contract](../write-docs/SKILL.md#discover-before-drafting). In the task's note outside the clone, identify the files, reader's task, meaning to preserve, terminology to verify, and likely language risks. How to install
mdr add tale-project/tale/write-translations@sha256:ccc10894706bf282The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261006.68386d3, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
