Choosing where business rules live — Transaction Script, Domain Model or Table Module — from the shape of the logic rather than from convention, and recognising when the choice made no longer fits. Use when starting a new module and the "standard" layered structure is about to be applied by default, when a service class has grown past a thousand lines of procedural steps, when entities have only getters and setters and every rule sits in a service, when the same business rule is implemented in…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Domain Logic Organization
## Purpose
Decide where business logic goes, on evidence about the logic itself. This consequential
decision in an enterprise application affects what a change costs for
the rest of the system's life, and it is routinely made by habit — a domain model because
the team read about aggregates, or a service class because the previous project had one.
Two failures recur. Introducing a rich domain model for CRUD screens can add mapping,
loading and learning costs without an invariant that benefits from that structure.
Procedures that each encode the same interacting rules can diverge, with the disagreement
discovered only in production. Inspect the actual ownership and costs before diagnosing
either failure from a pattern label.
## The three organisations
```text
Transaction Script one procedure per business transaction; data is
structures; logic is steps. Cost grows with rule
interaction, not with rule count.
Domain Model objects with data and behaviour, mirroring the
business; invariants enforced by the objects that
How to install
mdr add robsonkades/agent-skills/domain-logic-organization@sha256:2a7e2ad7668dfeb9The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260927.9ecadfd, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
