# GitHub CLI (gh) Skill Interact with GitHub using the gh command line tool. Run commands with Bub's `bash` tool, setting `cwd` to the target checkout when using local repository context. If it returns a running shell ID, collect the result with `bash.output` before retrying the command. ## Prerequisites Use the authentication source specified by the user or workspace. For github.com, `GH_TOKEN` takes precedence over `GITHUB_TOKEN`, and both override stored `gh` credentials. Check authentication: ```bash gh auth status ``` If not authenticated, report the blocker; do not silently switch credentials. How to install
mdr add bubbuild/bub/gh@sha256:e0f11c439e4fdd93The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261001.833f494, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
