Tells the story of a codebase from its git history as an entertaining documentary, with eras, key contributors, plot twists (reverts, giant commits, long silences), cursed files, and the current state, backed by a git analysis script. Useful for onboarding, retrospectives, anniversaries, and fun. Use when the user asks for the history of a repo, how a project evolved, a repo story or timeline, or "who built what and when".

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. ## 1. Collect the facts

The script reports the span, commits per year, top authors, the biggest commits, the most-changed ("cursed") files, reverts and hotfixes, and the longest silence. Read key commits (`git show --stat <hash>`) before narrating them.

How to install

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261025.7c7d700, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved.
