Turns messy working-tree changes into clean, atomic Conventional Commits, splitting unrelated changes into separate commits with clear messages. Use when the user asks to commit, write a commit message, split changes into commits, or clean up git history before a PR.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Commit Craft

Make the git history something reviewers enjoy reading.

## Workflow

1. Inspect state (read-only):
   ```bash

2. **Group changes by intent**, not by file. One commit = one reason to change (a feature, a fix, a refactor, docs, deps, formatting). Formatting-only and dependency bumps always go in their own commits.
3. **Propose the plan first** and wait for confirmation:
   ```text

   2. test(auth): cover refresh-token rotation      → tests/auth/token.test.ts
   3. chore(deps): bump jsonwebtoken to 9.0.2       → package.json, package-lock.json

4. Execute each commit with explicit paths (`git add <paths>`, or `git add -p` for files containing mixed intents), then `git commit`.
5. Show the final `git log --oneline` for the new commits.

How to install

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261025.7c7d700, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
