Teaching notes for Apple Notes — folders, notes list, editor toolbar, checklists, tables, sharing, and what to point at.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. What the file says
## Layout Three columns: folders on the left (iCloud, On My Mac, Smart Folders, Tags at the bottom), the notes list in the middle, and the editor on the right. The toolbar spans the top: the new-note button (pencil in a square) sits above the editor at the left of its section, followed by the format menu (Aa), checklist, table, media/attachment, link, share, and the search field at the far right. Locked notes show a lock in the notes list. Gallery view swaps the middle column for a grid. ## Common tasks - New note: command-N, or the pencil button in the toolbar. - New folder: shift-command-N, or the button at the bottom of the left column. - Checklist: shift-command-L, or the check-circle button in the toolbar. - Headings and body styles: the Aa button in the toolbar, or shift-command-T for Title, shift-command-H heading, shift-command-B body. - Table: option-command-T, or the table button in the toolbar. - Lock a note: File > Lock Note, or the lock inside the share/more menu. - Search all notes: the search field at the top-right; use the filter for attachments, checklists, shared. - Pin a note: right-click it in the list, Pin Note; or swipe right on a trackpad. …

How to install
mdr add prasanthsasikumar/openclicky/Notes@sha256:ea896ed7ae7ed626The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260904.7db3b7d, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
