Teaching notes for Preview — viewing PDFs and images, the markup toolbar, sidebar thumbnails, annotations, signing, export, and what to point at.

What the file says
## Layout The document fills the window. The toolbar along the top has the sidebar button at the far left, zoom buttons, the share button, then the highlight pen, rotate button, and at the right the markup toolbar toggle (a pen tip in a circle) and search. When the markup toolbar is on, a second row appears under the main toolbar with selection, sketch, draw, shapes, text, sign, adjust color, adjust size, and the style controls at the right. The sidebar on the left shows page thumbnails, table of contents, or annotations. Menu bar: File, Edit, View, Go, Tools, Window. ## Common tasks - Show the markup toolbar: click the pen-tip button at the top-right, or shift-command-A. - Add text: markup toolbar > the "A" text button, then drag the box into place. - Sign a PDF: markup toolbar > the signature button (a scribble), create a signature with trackpad or camera, then drag it on. - Rotate: command-L left, command-R right. - Crop an image: drag to select, then Tools > Crop, command-K. - Resize or convert an image: Tools > Adjust Size; File > Export to change the format. - Merge PDFs: show thumbnails (View > Thumbnails), drag pages from another window into the sidebar. …

How to install
mdr add prasanthsasikumar/openclicky/Preview@sha256:cd8971eaa8233e70The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260904.7db3b7d, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
