Teaching notes for Slack — sidebar, channels, message composer, threads, search, huddles, and what to point at.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. What the file says
## Layout The workspace switcher is the narrow column at the far left (Home, DMs, Activity, Later, More). Next to it is the sidebar listing channels and direct messages. The conversation fills the center with the message composer along its bottom edge; the formatting toolbar and the plus attachment button are inside the composer. The search bar is at the top center of the window. Threads and details open as a right-hand panel. The channel name and member count sit in the header at the top of the conversation. ## Common tasks - Jump to a channel or person: command-K, then type the name. - Search messages: click the search bar at the top of the window. - Reply in thread: hover the message, click the speech-bubble icon in the hover toolbar at its right. - Start a huddle: the headphones button in the header at the top-right of the channel. - Attach a file: the plus button at the left of the composer, or drag the file in. - Mark unread / set a reminder: hover the message, click the three dots at the right of the hover toolbar. - Edit your last message: up-arrow in an empty composer. …

How to install
mdr add prasanthsasikumar/openclicky/Slack@sha256:14803b88e69afe71The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260906.af1cfbc, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
