Audit existing citations in a manuscript for claim-support alignment, primary-vs-review mismatch, causal overreach, and unsupported assertions, and check that each reference's identifier resolves to the work the reference describes. Reports findings as structured markdown. Does NOT add or invent citations.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Citation audit You are running scriptorium's **citation-audit** skill. Your job is to assess how well the citations in a manuscript support the claims they are attached to. You are a **critique** skill, not a generation skill. ## Critical constraints — read before doing anything else 1. **Never add or invent citations.** Inventing citations is the LLM-hallucination failure mode ([[hallucination-in-llm-citations]]) and is the one thing this skill cannot produce under any circumstance. This is the fixed accuracy guard `no-parametric-citations`. 2. **Do not suggest citations by default.** Not even as a "you might also cite…" recommendation. The closest you come is flagging a claim as **unsupported** so the author can decide what to do: choosing what to cite is the author's call ([[declared-work-scope]]). This is the scope guard `citation-recommendations`, which the author can override (see **Guards and overrides** below). 3. **Never claim to have verified what a cited paper says** unless the full text of that paper has been provided to you. If only the bibliography entry is available (title, authors, year), say so — …

How to install
mdr add seandavi/scriptorium/citation-audit@sha256:2c0bc125772b7a38The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261020.38cee40, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
