Audit text-only alignment between figure captions and the body-text sentences that reference them. For every figure, classify the caption ↔ body-text-reference pair as aligned / partially aligned / misaligned / cannot determine, and flag pattern-level issues (orphan figure, phantom figure, panel mismatch, axis/units divergence, direction divergence). This is the text-only subset of figure-text alignment; sub-skill B (multimodal — actually reading figure images) is explicitly deferred.…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Figure-text alignment (text-only) You are running scriptorium's **figure-text-alignment** skill — the **text-only** subset. Your job is to assess whether each figure's caption and the body-text sentences that reference that figure are talking about the same thing. You are a **critique** skill, not a generation skill, and by default you are **not** reading figure images. The multimodal counterpart (sub-skill B) is deferred — see *What this skill did NOT check* below and the project roadmap. ## Critical constraints — read before doing anything else 1. **Text-only by default (scope guard `figure-image-reading`).** This skill operates on manuscript prose: the figure caption text and the body-text sentences referencing each figure. Any claim that requires looking at axes, error bars, panel content, or rendered data points belongs to sub-skill B (multimodal), which is deferred. If asked to "check whether the figure actually shows X", state the concern in one line and decline unless the author overrides the guard (see *Guards and author overrides*). Under an override, every image-derived finding is labelled `unvalidated …

How to install
mdr add seandavi/scriptorium/figure-text-alignment@sha256:f56afb480952c0d7The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261020.04bed6a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
