Export multi-part assemblies to URDF — links, joints, inertial blocks, per-link STL meshes. Use when an assembly needs to be consumed by an external motion planner or simulator.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# kernelCAD — URDF export
URDF (Unified Robot Description Format) is a tree-shaped XML description of a multi-part assembly: links with inertial properties, joints with axes and limits, and visual + collision meshes. kernelCAD's `export({ target: 'model', format: 'urdf' })` writes a `.urdf` plus a sibling `meshes/` directory with one STL per link.
## When to use
- The assembly has at least one part and one joint or mate.
- The downstream consumer expects a tree topology (one parent per link).
- You need per-link mass, centre-of-mass, and inertia for dynamics simulation.
Not for: assemblies with closed kinematic loops (4-bar linkages, parallel grippers) — see `kernelcad-sdformat` for those.

How to install
mdr add w1ne/kernelcad-web/kernelcad-urdf@sha256:11ca94b292751dffThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260914.40eddf4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
