Testing web apps through a real browser: reconnaissance before acting, selector discovery, state capture, console errors and screenshot evidence. Use on a web surface end to end, or to reproduce a front-end bug.

Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. # Browser QA

Exercise the web surface with the harness `browser` tool: reconnaissance, then action, then capture the resulting state. Concrete flows: `references/recipes.md`.

## Recon before acting

1. Open the target and wait for READY, not just present: await the element you are about to use, never click on a fixed sleep.
2. Read the page first: structure, headings, controls, current URL. Build the selector plan from what is actually there (snapshot refs, roles, labels), not from guesses.
3. Note the auth state and anything that will swallow your first click (cookie banners, interstitials, modals).

## Act, then capture the state

- Credentials go through `secret_ref` on `browser type` — never a literal password in `text`; the ref resolves session-first (the `ask` answer), then the encrypted store. If the store lacks it, ask the operator to sign in by hand; do not type the value yourself.
- After every action capture BOTH: the action performed and the resulting state (URL, the target element's text or attributes, visible feedback). "Clicked button" and "order confirmed, ref #1234 shown" are different evidence.

How to install

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.d17aeb2, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
