Coordinate dependent cross-repo changes using a sister checkout directory beside the repo.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# clud-extern-repos
Use this workflow when the current repo needs coordinated work in a dependent repository.
## Code Change Rule
If any parent or dependent repository change is a bug fix or feature implementation, use RED -> GREEN in that repository: write or identify the focused failing test/repro first, run it to fail, implement the scoped change, rerun it to pass, then run the broader repo checks before opening linked PRs.
## Convention
Place each dependent checkout **beside** the repo, not inside it:

So from `~/dev/myrepo`, clone to `../myrepo-extern/<repo-name>`. Only immediate children of that directory are tracked by clud GC.
The directory is derived from the repo's own name, and for a worktree it derives from the **main** repo — `~/dev/myrepo-wt-123` also uses `~/dev/myrepo-extern`, so a dependency is cloned once rather than once per worktree.

How to install
mdr add zackees/clud/clud-extern-repos@sha256:d910633e9d64c6ceThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260924.d5a5002, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
