Reviews an Umbraco package repo's dependencies: bot update PRs, security alerts and outdated packages. Sorts each by kind and drafts one action per item (merge, close, hold or bump), plus fixes to dependabot.yml. Acts only with a yes. Use for "go through the Dependabot PRs", "can I merge this bump", "what's out of date", or tidying dependencies.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# dependency-review Dependabot doesn't know an Umbraco package runs inside a site that already has the CMS. It opens PRs that would force a site onto a version its CMS wasn't tested with, and it labels npm bumps "dev" or "prod" from `package.json`, which says little about what a backoffice bundle ships. And on a repo with no Dependabot config, it only opens PRs for security fixes, so ordinary updates never show up at all. This skill looks at all three sources (bot PRs, security alerts, and newer versions with no PR), sorts each dependency by what it really touches, and drafts what to do with it. ## Scope - IN: open dependency update PRs from a bot (Dependabot, Renovate); open security alerts; newer versions of the project's dependencies; drafting merge/close/hold for PRs and bump/hold/leave for updates; drafting changes to `.github/dependabot.yml`. - OUT: bumps a person opened (that's `pr-review`), moving to a new CMS major (`major-upgrade`), raising the package's CMS floor, and making a bump itself. A bump the user picks goes to `quick-fix`, which makes it and runs it past `reviewer`. A bump that …

How to install
mdr add mattbrailsford/umbraco-devkit/dependency-review@sha256:5783d34257db2858The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.a78a902, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
