# mcp ## Purpose Loom's adapter for the standalone `gleam_mcp` library. This package turns untrusted tool listings into `cap/mcp/<server>` Gleam source and translates values between Loom's capability MessagePack wire and the library's JSON vocabulary. Protocol codecs, stdio framing, the client state machine and native process ownership belong to `gleam_mcp`. MCP reaches a model through code mode only: one generated module per server. `codegen.generate` returns source text and a rendered surface at boot. It never compiles code, starts a process, or writes a file. The jailed build compiles only the generated modules the submitted program imports. `client/mcp` owns configuration, client startup, cleanup custody, and routing. ## Key Types - `mcp/codegen.Generated(module_name, source, surface)` is the complete generated artifact. `GenerateError` refuses excessive tool counts, name collisions, schema budgets, excessive source or surface sizes, and sanitizer failures. - `mcp/schema.Shape` is the recursive rendering plan: primitives, string enums, lists, records, mappings, nullable values, disjoint alternatives, …

This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
