k-explore from kasempiternal/k-stack is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Explain how a subsystem works, trace a runtime flow, answer where code should live, or dig up why something was built this way (git history). Read-only. Use for "how does X work", "walk me through", "why is this like this", "where should this live", onboarding onto unfamiliar code, or from k-mode before changing a subsystem.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# K-explore Read-only. It produces a mental model a senior engineer can act on, not annotated source. ## 1. Scope State your reading of the question in one line and proceed. The user redirects if you are off. Pick the size: - **Narrow** (one module or function): one `explore` worker explores and explains in one pass. Go to step 3. - **Broad** (a subsystem, a cross-cutting flow, a full architecture): go to step 2. - **Why** (the motivation behind a design or a regression): add a history seat to either path. ## 2. Fan out When the territory is unmapped, first send a `scan` fan-out (see Haiku fan-out in `../k-mode/references/routing.md`) to locate entry points, key types, and the files each slice will need. The `explore` workers then start from those pointers instead of searching on their own. Split the question into two to four disjoint slices. Example: data model and state, request path, configuration and side effects. Dispatch all slices in one message, one `explore` worker per slice. Each brief says: - The slice, and the question it serves. …

How to install
mdr add kasempiternal/k-stack/k-explore@sha256:bf78b92d6e45508dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261007.f28effe, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
