This skill tests hypotheses with proofs, counterexamples, and analysis. You use it to verify, prove, or refute research claims.

# Investigate You must read and apply the [language rules](../reaper/references/language.md) before you write any output. Each cycle tests one hypothesis and returns a keep or discard verdict. ## Usage You invoke this skill by name with an optional cycle count. The default count is 5. Slash-command hosts use `/investigate 10`. ``` investigate 10 investigate ``` ## Inputs You always read these files: - `reaper-workspace/notes/problem-statement.md` - `reaper-workspace/notes/ideas.md` - `reaper-workspace/notes/current-understanding.md` - `reaper-workspace/notes/results.md` You read these sources only when a hypothesis needs them or progress stops: - `reaper-workspace/notes/paper-summary.md`, if it exists. - `reaper-workspace/notes/literature.md` - `reaper-workspace/papers/`, including `<id>-notes.md` files. - `../reaper/references/methodology.md` ## Batch Loop You test independent hypotheses in parallel batches when the host supports subagents. You use sequential execution for dependent hypotheses or hosts without subagents. Each batch has three stages: plan, dispatch, and merge. How to install
mdr add sebastianelvis/reaper/investigate@sha256:7a2f1503a957ad09The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260912.18b334b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
