Read and operate desktop apps on Linux through the accessibility tree. Use `kaizen computer` when a task needs you to check what an app window shows, or to click, set a value or type in a native app, and no CLI or API does it. Off by default; the user turns it on in Settings → Skills.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Desktop control
`kaizen computer <verb>` reads the accessibility tree of a running app and acts on it. No screenshots, no pixel clicks, no keyboard shortcuts. Linux only (AT-SPI). It refuses every verb until the user turns this skill on.
Every call prints one JSON line: `{"ok":true,...}` or `{"ok":false,"code":"...","error":"...","recovery":"..."}`. On an error, do what `recovery` says; do not retry blindly.
## Verbs
| Verb | Result |
|---|---|
| `kaizen computer apps` | Running apps with accessibility: `name`, `windows`, `blocked` |
| `kaizen computer windows <app>` | The app's windows: `index`, `title` |
| `kaizen computer state <app> [window]` | The window's tree. Each node has an `id` like `0.2.1`, a `role`, a `name`, maybe a `value`, `actions`, `states` |
| `kaizen computer click <app> <id>` | Runs the node's click action |
| `kaizen computer set-value <app> <id> <value>` | Sets a text field or a slider to the value |
| `kaizen computer type <app> <id> <text>` | Focuses the field and inserts the text at its end |

How to install
mdr add hfadhlullah/kaizen/kaizen-computer@sha256:1739a08a7ce4e73dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261031.8c59068, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
