# No-delete guardrail
## Purpose
A guardrail, not a task. Once selected it applies three rules to every step in the conversation, including steps driven by other skills: nothing destructive is proposed for execution without the user's typed approval, no existing file is ever overwritten (a new versioned file is proposed instead), and every change is journalled in a table the user can audit.
Be clear about the mechanism. The agent does not perform operations on the user's files, mail or calendar. It produces the exact list of actions for the user to perform and the full text of any new artefact. The guardrail is a behavioural commitment plus an audit journal, not an enforced control. It cannot intercept another skill, and an embedded instruction or a lapse can bypass any instruction, including this one. The journal exists so that what was proposed, approved, refused or left pending is visible afterwards.
