Control or customize Herdr, a terminal multiplexer for coding agents. Use when the user explicitly mentions Herdr, asks about its local configuration or source, or asks to inspect or control panes, tabs, workspaces, commands, or another agent. Do not use merely because a task could benefit from a background terminal, delegation, or parallel work. Live session access requires HERDR_ENV=1; local config, docs, source, and CLI help inspection do not.

# Herdr Herdr organizes terminals into workspaces, tabs, and panes, recognizes coding agents running inside panes, and exposes the current session through the `herdr` CLI. ## Use local configuration and source references On this machine, answer configuration and behavior questions from local evidence instead of relying on memory. Read `local-machine.md` for the evidence order and paths. For requests to flatten tabs or put one agent per tab, use the tested local command described in [local-machine.md](local-machine.md#flatten-agent-tabs). Start configuration questions with the commented managed file `$DOTFILES/herdr-cfg/config.toml`. It backs `~/.config/herdr/config.toml` and documents the user's intentional overrides. Use `herdr --default-config` for the installed version's complete default configuration. For deeper behavior or documentation questions, inspect the local source checkout at `$DOTFILES/herdr`. How to install
mdr add unique-divine/jiyuu/herdr@sha256:7d46c8d452ce75e4The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261019.52b07d6, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
