This skill should be used when the user asks to "diff two archetypes", "compare two templates", "what changed between these two versions", "is this a patch, minor or major bump?", "how compatible are these two artefacts?", or invokes `/semantic-diff`. Auto-detects archetype vs template (any serialisation) and version vs sibling comparison, then reports a version-bump verdict (rule G1) or a compatibility report with a path-compatibility table. Not a textual/git diff; to review or fix a single…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Semantic Diff
Compare two openEHR artefacts at the **semantic** level — not textual. Auto-detect whether the inputs are **archetypes** (ADL) or **templates** (OET, `.t.json`, OPT, web template), and whether the comparison is between two **versions** of the same concept or between **siblings / distinct concepts**, then produce the appropriate report.
## Instructions
1. Parse **$ARGUMENTS** into `<file-a>` and `<file-b>`. When invoked from conversation rather than `/semantic-diff` (no arguments), take the two artefact paths (or CKM ids) from the user's request. If only one artefact is identifiable, ask the user for the second and stop.
2. `Read` both files.
3. `Read` the rubric bundled with this skill — [`references/semantic-diff-rubric.md`](references/semantic-diff-rubric.md). Follow its classification rules exactly.
4. **Detect the artefact type** from the file content/extension:
- **Archetype** — ADL source (`.adl`; `archetype (...)` header, `definition`, `term_definitions`). Load the archetype rules guide:
```
guide_get("openehr://guides/archetypes/rules")
```
…Read the whole file at its exact version.
How to install
mdr add cadasto/openehr-assistant-plugin/semantic-diff@sha256:31e1ec6e27d98e08The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260730.305cd87, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
