Use this skill when performing security reviews of features, APIs, or architecture changes. Produces a STRIDE threat model document with risk-rated threats, mitigations, and backlog-ready security stories. Use during sprint planning or design review.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Threat Modeling (STRIDE)
## Overview
Produce a lightweight, sprint-compatible threat model: 15-30 minutes of structured analysis, not a multi-week security assessment. The output is a threat model document plus security stories the team can schedule.
## When to Use
- Designing a new feature or API endpoint
- Reviewing architecture changes
- Integrating with third-party services
- Processing personal data, payment data, or regulated data
- Sprint planning or design review sessions
- Any change that crosses a trust boundary
## Process
### 1. Establish the Data Flow
Ask for (or derive from the code/design) the feature's data flow: actors, entry points, services, data stores, and trust boundaries. Summarize it as:
```
Actor → Component || API Gateway → Service → Database
```
Mark each trust boundary crossing with `||`. If the user has architecture docs or code, read them instead of asking.
### 2. Walk the STRIDE Categories
Run each STRIDE category against every trust boundary crossing:
| # | Category | Question to Ask | Typical Mitigations |
|---|---|---|---|

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261012.4b2f1b0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
