Using eBPF/bpftrace to measure kernel-visible behavior around a JVM without inventing attribution: selecting stable tracepoints versus kprobes/uprobes/USDT, scoping by process/thread/cgroup, tracking syscall/futex/scheduler/block-I/O lifecycles, managing BPF map loss and cardinality, resolving native and time-varying JIT code, and correlating—not summing—kernel, JFR, profile, and application evidence. Use when scheduler delay, kernel I/O, faults, networking, or cross-process interference may…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# eBPF for JVM ## Purpose Use kernel instrumentation to answer a narrowly defined question about events visible at the kernel boundary, while preserving scope, lifecycle, loss, and attribution. A BPF program can load, run, and print a plausible histogram while measuring the wrong task, pairing unrelated events, losing state, or observing a different layer than the JVM duration being compared. eBPF complements JVM evidence; it is not only a last resort. For transient incidents, align a bounded kernel capture with JFR, profiles, workload markers, cgroup metrics, and application telemetry when the combined cost is safe. The layers have different clocks, boundaries, and selection rules, so correlate them on a timeline and never add durations by default. ## Ownership boundary This Category C skill owns measurement design, probe selection, scoping, correctness, loss, and evidence correlation. `linux-for-jvm`, `tcp-tuning`, `cpu-cache-and-numa`, and `io-uring-and-zero-copy` own the underlying OS/hardware mechanisms and remedies. ## Compatibility contract This is Linux tracing guidance, with HotSpot-specific flags, probes and stack assumptions; …

How to install
mdr add robsonkades/agent-skills/ebpf-for-jvm@sha256:69ef9736df19b1b1The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.c769bd8, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
