Write and review network configuration for self-hosted Linux infrastructure: what an nftables ruleset, a resolver zone, a reverse-proxy site, a forward-auth chain, a WireGuard or Tailscale tunnel, or an IDS rule does once loaded, where that differs from what the file reads. Not how a change is applied or verified.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. Three biases decide most calls: - **Evaluation order belongs to the engine, not the file.** nftables runs every base chain on a hook by priority and only `drop` is final; Caddy sorts directives by a built-in table; nginx discards inherited `proxy_set_header` the moment one is set lower; Traefik ranks routers by rule length; Authelia and cloudflared take the first match. Read the engine's order before trusting the file's. - **Who is trusted is a list, and every tool ships a different one.** Caddy trusts no proxy for `X-Forwarded-*`, HAProxy and Cloudflare append the client's, Unbound refuses every client but localhost, AdGuard Home on `0.0.0.0` answers the internet, Avahi reflects to every interface, Tailscale on Linux accepts no routes, NetBird pushes them unapproved. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
