Communicating engineering facts to people who will act on them: stating what is true, what follows from it, what is still uncertain, and the options and recommendation when needed. Covers raising a risk early, saying no to a request in a way that leaves a yes on the table, resolving technical disagreement by making the checkable claim checkable, escalating without going around someone, and status updates during an incident. Use when bad news has to travel, when a risk is visible but unspoken…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Engineering Communication ## Purpose Most engineering communication fails in one of two directions. It buries a decision the reader must make inside a technical narrative they cannot parse — so nothing happens. Or it is so hedged that the reader extracts no claim at all — so they assume everything is fine, which was never what you meant. The output that works is short, ordered by what the reader must do, and explicit about what you do not know. That last part is what makes the rest of it trustworthy. ## Workflow 1. **Decide what the reader must do** with this message: approve something, choose between options, be aware, or act now. If nothing, consider not sending it. 2. **Read the sources behind that action.** For a status or recommendation, inspect the relevant issue, check result, incident record or owner response when available. Read only what the message depends on; an inaccessible link is not checked evidence. Keep reported claims attributed. A wording-only rewrite does not require a fresh technical investigation, but flag material contradictions instead of polishing them into apparent certainty. …

How to install
mdr add robsonkades/agent-skills/engineering-communication@sha256:91b1886b9eca0f9dThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.c769bd8, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
