Test-driven development, red then green, one vertical slice at a time. Use when building a feature, a rule, a config option or a bug fix test-first, when the user says "TDD", "red-green" or "write the test first", or when a subagent is handed a ticket to build.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Test-driven development TDD is the red → green loop. This skill is the reference that makes that loop produce tests worth keeping: what a good test is, where tests go, the anti-patterns, and the rules of the loop. Every section applies on every cycle: consult them before and during the loop, not after. Credit and license: `LICENSE.md` in this folder. **Project copy first.** If the repository has its own `.claude/skills/tdd/SKILL.md`, read it and follow it instead of this file. A skill installed for all your projects outranks a project skill with the same name, so without this step a repository's own version of this skill would never run. Before exploring, read the project's own testing notes (README, CONTRIBUTING, an architecture doc, `AGENTS.md`/`CLAUDE.md`) so test names use the project's words and the tests land where the project keeps them. ## What a good test is Tests verify behavior through public interfaces, not implementation details. Code can change entirely; tests shouldn't. A good test reads like a specification: "rejects an order with an empty cart" says what capability exists, and it survives refactors because it doesn't care about internal structure. …

How to install
mdr add ehnruiz/claude-skills/tdd@sha256:418031e7f5e16984The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261020.b184c85, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
