failure-models from robsonkades/agent-skills is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Stating a system's fault model before designing against it: crash-stop, crash-recovery, omission, timing and Byzantine faults; partial failure and the third outcome of every remote call (unknown); gray failure and the slow node whose health check stays green; the eight fallacies as a checklist; blast radius, correlated versus independent failure, and the availability arithmetic of a dependency chain. Use when a design says "if the service is down" without defining down, when a retry is added…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Failure Models ## Purpose Make the relevant fault model explicit before relying on it in a design. Every downstream decision — whether a retry is safe, whether a read may be stale, how many replicas are enough — is an answer to "which faults do we tolerate?", and a design that never asked the question has answered it by accident. The failure this prevents is the one-word fault model. "The service can go down" is not a model: it leaves restart behavior, outstanding effects and shared failure domains unspecified. Even a crash-stop peer may have applied a write before its acknowledgement was lost; the fault class alone does not resolve that outcome. Naming the class and its assumptions makes recovery, retry and redundancy claims reviewable. ## Workflow Match the depth to the requested diagnosis, design or review. A narrow outcome or arithmetic question can finish with the relevant card fields inline, the supporting evidence and its limits. Reuse adequate models and tests; preserve findings-only scope and an already sound design. 1. **Inspect the contract and write or update the relevant boundary's fault-model card.** …

How to install
mdr add robsonkades/agent-skills/failure-models@sha256:2e9724958a0947ccThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261016.c769bd8, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
