Executes the heartbeat checklist from HEARTBEAT.md. Reads the checklist, evaluates each item, and reports findings, acknowledges with HEARTBEAT_OK, or acknowledges a rejected evaluation with HEARTBEAT_INDETERMINATE. Supports run/start/stop/status/edit subcommands.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Heartbeat Background health checker that periodically evaluates a checklist and surfaces anything that needs operator attention. ## Usage ``` /hermitd:heartbeat run — execute one tick immediately /hermitd:heartbeat start — start the recurring tick /hermitd:heartbeat stop — stop the recurring tick /hermitd:heartbeat status — show last result and schedule state /hermitd:heartbeat edit — modify the checklist ``` ## Step 0 — Channel reply If this skill was invoked from a channel-arrived message (the inbound prompt contains a `<channel source="...">` tag), reply via that channel's reply tool. Otherwise emit to conversation. The only interactive ask here is the `edit` subcommand's free-form "what to add, remove, or change" — on a channel-tagged turn deliver it via the reply tool as an ordinary over-channel exchange (it's open-ended, so no micro-proposal entry is queued). **Never call `AskUserQuestion` on a channel-tagged turn** — it renders in the terminal, invisible to a remote operator. ## Subcommands ### run …

How to install
mdr add gtapps/hermitd/heartbeat@sha256:29f28a96ea66d7b1The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261015.0b74ef8, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
