House rules and craft for LaTeX Beamer slide decks (lectures, seminars, talks), drawn from the author's own Overleaf edits and published slide-design guidance. Covers storyboarding, frame titles, slide prose, word and frame budgets, layout without overfull boxes, XeLaTeX fonts and Korean (xeCJK), color, figures and screenshots, Overleaf source hygiene, speaker notes, and a build-and-QA loop with a contact sheet. Use when writing, editing, reviewing, or building a Beamer deck, theme, or…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Beamer decks A deck is read from the back of a room, then posted as a PDF. Every rule below serves one of those two readings. Many rules come from edits the author made to drafts on Overleaf. Where an older skill or template disagrees with those edits, the edits win. ## Division of labor - A **course or project skill** owns facts and structure: dates, deadlines, objectives, checklists, the frame skeleton, the corpus, release rules. Read it first when one applies, and take any fact it generates from its output rather than retyping it. - **This skill** owns craft: wording, density, layout, type, figures, source hygiene, and QA. - Prose beyond slide text (handouts, READMEs, site pages) goes to the house editing skill (`sci-edit` where installed). ## Workflow 1. **Pull first.** The author edits on Overleaf between sessions. `git pull --rebase` before touching a deck, and treat every wording change they made as a decision. Keep their text verbatim unless asked to change it; the rules in this file do not override wording they wrote. …

How to install
mdr add scdenney/open-science-skills/beamer@sha256:32d7f70664fc0e96The line at the top of this page pins the label v1.0.0, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
