lighting SKILL.md skillA
lighting from wolffe/three.js-skills is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.

Light a Three.js WebGPU scene: sun and sky fill, fixtures versus emission, point and spot light budgets, and r187 ClusteredLighting for streets, halls, stations and interiors with hundreds or thousands of point and spot lights. Use when a scene has more than a handful of lights, when fixtures must read as lit, or when deciding what is a real light and what is only an emissive surface.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Lighting Target: Three.js 0.187.0, WebGPU renderer (`three/webgpu`) and TSL node materials (`three/tsl`); WebGPU only, no WebGL fallback, no GLSL strings. This is the general light skill: what lights a scene, what only looks lit, and how many lights the renderer can carry. Bounce light and probe grids are `indirect-lighting`; the sky, the sun's direction and the environment map come from `photo-sky`; far terrain shade is `far-shade`. ## Three layers Every lit scene has three things that are easy to confuse: 1. **Illumination**: real lights that shade materials. The sun (`DirectionalLight`), the sky fill (`HemisphereLight` or `scene.environment`), and local point and spot lights. 2. **Emission**: surfaces that look bright. `emissiveNode` on a node material: tubes, signs, windows, indicator lamps. They light nothing. With bloom they glow. 3. **Fixtures**: the geometry that holds the light. Housing, mount, diffuser or lens, cable. A fixture has an emissive diffuser and, when its light would be seen on something, a real light under it. Rule: every real light has a visible source, and a visible source gets a real light only when …

How to install
mdr add wolffe/three.js-skills/lighting@sha256:e3c3ecb63efbc72fThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261031.50d32a4, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
