# Version Control (`atk:git`) Carries finished work into the repository and no further. This skill is the one road to a commit in `atk`: the skills that change code and the skills that write a document both hand off here, so a team gets the same branch rule, the same secret scan, and the same consent line whichever one they ran. `shared/finalize-steps.md` is the contract and this skill is its implementation. Where the two disagree, the contract wins and the disagreement is a defect here. ## Scope Handles: reading the working tree and the branch it sits on, in every repository the project holds; staging with a scan for credentials and private data; splitting a change into commits that revert independently; branching and committing to the project's own convention; pushing, opening a pull request, and linking the ticket, each on consent; merging a pull request a person has asked to merge and that passes the readiness gate; and repairing a branch through rebase, conflict resolution, fixup, and the stacked pull request lifecycle. How to install
mdr add lamngockhuong/aiteamkit/git@sha256:466cc8f4ac0bd670The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261015.10f30b1, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
