How a working lane builds an item: seam-scoped test-first, tracer-first sequencing, a green checkpoint per slice, and file-don't-fix scope discipline. Use when a build-shaped lane brief points here, when implementing a spec or tracked item, or when mid-build discoveries tempt a lane beyond its brief.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Implement How a working lane builds an item. The item's body is the spec, the brief's verification set names the behavioral bar, and this skill is the discipline between those two points. That bar is one part of done; this skill's close-out artifacts (below) and [orchestrate](../orchestrate/SKILL.md)'s merge gate are also part of it. It is not a lane type of its own, and it deliberately has no binding slots: everything repo-specific (verify commands, constraints, the tracker) already arrived in the lane's brief. ## Tracer first **The first commit proves the thinnest end-to-end slice**: the path that goes all the way through, one field wide, before anything widens. Widening follows, slice by slice, each responding to what the last one taught. This pairs with [to-tickets](../to-tickets/SKILL.md)' slicing: tickets sliced tracer-style are built tracer-style. An item with no thin end-to-end slice in it is a slicing problem: report it back through the orchestrator rather than building horizontal layers and calling the stack a tracer. ## Seam-scoped test-first …

How to install
mdr add timharris707/skills/implement@sha256:c81b3a2bbb01cbb9The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261009.3cdacee, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
