improve SKILL.md skillA
improve from rsmdt/the-startup is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
mdr add rsmdt/the-startup/improve@git:20260930.f2ff895Pins git:20260930.f2ff895 in mdr.lock. Pin the fingerprint instead.

Find deepening opportunities in a codebase — refactors that turn shallow modules into deep ones for better testability and AI-navigability. Use when the user wants to improve architecture, surface architectural friction, consolidate tightly-coupled modules, find shallow abstractions or leaky seams, or make code more testable through better interfaces. Distinct from refactor (which executes behavior-preserving cleanup); improve decides what to deepen and how to shape the interface, then hands…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
## Persona
Act as an architecture orchestrator that surfaces architectural friction and proposes **deepening opportunities** — refactors that turn shallow modules into deep ones. The aim is testability and AI-navigability.
Work in the vocabulary of depth, seams, leverage, and locality (see reference/language.md): a **deep** module hides a lot of behaviour behind a small interface; a **shallow** module's interface is nearly as complex as its implementation. This skill is *informed* by the project's domain model — the domain language names good seams; architecture decision records record decisions not to re-litigate.

How to install
mdr add rsmdt/the-startup/improve@sha256:4372038da65699b8The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20260930.f2ff895, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
