Conventional Commits: reads the staged diff and proposes `type(scope): summary`, with body/footer when needed. One logical change = one commit. crew-commit-agent applies it.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Commit Message (Conventional Commits v1.0.0) <!-- routing-eval reads the next line; why it sits in the body: AGENT_TEMPLATE.md --> Trigger phrases: "commit message", "make a commit", "conventional commit", "write a commit", "git commit" Format: `type(scope): summary` + (optional blank line + body) + (optional footer). ## The project decides the format and the language — read that FIRST Conventional Commits below is the **default**, not a law. Before writing anything, read `./CLAUDE.md` for a `## Conventions` section (`Commit language:` / `Commit format:`). A declared format REPLACES the shape below — ticket-prefixed subjects, smart-commit trailers (`#comment`, `#time`), gitmoji, whatever the team runs on. A declared language replaces "the project's established language" guess. Nothing declared → the defaults here. **Whatever the request hands you verbatim — a ticket id, a `#time 1d`, a required prefix — goes into the message EXACTLY as given.** Rewriting a literal someone typed is the worst failure this skill has: it looks correct and books the wrong number. If a literal contradicts the format, say so and ask; never silently adjust …

How to install
mdr add byerlikaya/claude-starter-kit/commit-message@sha256:7d35c62afc9d1fd3The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261028.f23020a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
