Conventions for a Lit + UUI Umbraco backoffice package: compiler setup, local vs. exported components and the public API surface, OpenAPI-generated clients, observable and extension lifecycles, localization keys, build output and cache busting, and multi-package builds. Use when setting up or structuring a backoffice frontend, changing what imports what across its entry points, or adding a library or a call to the package's own API. Not for individual extension points or state management…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Umbraco backoffice frontend conventions
The official Umbraco Backoffice Skills plugin covers extension-point patterns (dashboards,
trees, property editors, modals, workspace context, manifest registration syntax). Defer to it
for those. This skill covers only the structure *around and between* extension points: how a
package's frontend source is organized, how components are registered and exported, and how a
multi-package frontend workspace builds.
These patterns match the Umbraco backoffice client itself. **Be flexible about the exact
mechanism, not about the underlying principle**: a smaller package can simplify the
mechanism, as noted below.
## *🎯 Why: Design for Change*
One structure means "is this component loaded, and is it meant for use outside this
package?" always has one obvious answer, instead of each contributor re-deriving it from code.
## Compiler setup this ecosystem requires
With `strict: true` as the baseline, a Lit + UUI backoffice package's `tsconfig.json` needs
these settings. They are required, not style choices:
```json
{
"compilerOptions": {
"moduleResolution": "bundler",
"experimentalDecorators": true,
How to install
mdr add mattbrailsford/umbraco-devkit/umbraco-backoffice-conventions@sha256:796efc90c6403719The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261017.8be9de3, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
