Complexity-management design principles — deep modules, information hiding and leakage, module boundaries, dependency direction, strategic vs. tactical tradeoffs. Used by speq planner, reviewer, and implementer agents during a speq run. Not for general design work.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. # Design Philosophy Complexity-management framework. Draws on J. Ousterhout's *A Philosophy of Software Design* and the dependency rule from R. Martin's *Clean Architecture*. ## Core Principle Complexity is what erodes a system's understandability over time. Judge every design decision by whether it adds or removes complexity. Do not judge by line count, module count, or named patterns. ## Deep Modules Weigh a module by what it does for callers relative to what its interface costs them to learn. Deep: the interface is far easier to use than the internals would be to rebuild. How to install
mdr add marconae/speq-skill/speq-design-philosophy@sha256:ffff59383d9ea124The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261011.5b73638, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
