Code review tag taxonomy and findings output format — guardrail violations, dead code, test quality, bad comments, optimizations, YAGNI/over-engineering, error handling, and design depth. Used by the speq code-reviewer agent during a speq implement run. Not for general code review.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Code Review Taxonomy Analyze each changed file for the categories below. **Non-goal:** a deviation the brief notes as authorized by an active project hook (a skipped guardrail, a relaxed convention) is a settled, intentional choice. Do not raise it as a finding under any category. ## 1. Guardrail Violations Per `/speq-code-guardrails`: - `[TOO_MANY_ARGUMENTS]`: more than 3 arguments - `[SIDE_EFFECT]`: function has a side effect its name and contract do not announce (a query that mutates, a command that touches unrelated state) - `[BOOLEAN_FLAG_PARAMETER]`: boolean flag parameter - `[MAGIC_NUMBER]`: magic number without a named constant (standing in for a failure, it is `[SENTINEL_ERROR_VALUE]`, not this tag) - `[MISSING_DOC_COMMENT]`: missing doc comment on a public interface - `[INLINE_COMMENT]`: inline comment present (TODOs and other work-tracking comments are `[WORK_TRACKING_COMMENT]`, not this tag) - `[SELECTOR_ARGUMENT]`: an argument (of any type, not just boolean) that picks which branch a function takes - `[OUTPUT_PARAMETER]`: a value returned via a mutated argument instead of the return value …

How to install
mdr add marconae/speq-skill/speq-code-review@sha256:5e8dcc35adf45c22The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261011.5b73638, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
