Use this skill when an agent needs to inspect or control a running Hypercolor daemon, browse or activate effects, patch live controls, adjust brightness, manage scenes and snapshots, or install built HTML effects from an authoring workspace. Triggers on "hypercolor", "list effects", "apply effect", "patch controls", "install effect", "rescan effects", "brightness", "scene", "snapshot scene", or any request to control the daemon from Claude Code.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Hypercolor Control Hypercolor exposes three control surfaces. Choose the right one before acting. - **MCP tools** are the canonical agent surface: twenty-one typed tools the daemon serves directly, reachable in Claude Code as `mcp__hypercolor__<tool>`. Prefer them when they are connected. - **Bare `hypercolor`** is the Rust system CLI for the daemon on `localhost:9420`. It covers everything MCP does not: devices, driver and device control surfaces, layouts, library, audio, permissions, config, and daemon lifecycle. - **`bunx hypercolor`** inside an effect workspace is the Bun authoring CLI for building, validating, and installing HTML effects. ## MCP tools The daemon mounts its MCP server over Streamable HTTP at `/mcp`, and only when the daemon config carries `[mcp] enabled = true`. Until that flag is set the endpoint 404s and the CLI is the only route in. Twenty-one tools, five resources, four prompt templates. Selector arguments (`query`, `name`, `zone`, `layer`, `device`, `effect_id`) all resolve in one fixed order: exact serialized ID, then exact case-insensitive name, then a unique case-insensitive name …

How to install
mdr add hyperb1iss/hypercolor/hypercolor-control@sha256:f0cdaad6b34ef72aThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261017.0c90a05, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
