Foundational quality framework: the five questions (readable, easy to start, expands without bloat, consistent, intentional) every other dev skill is judged against, plus the dual-audience and workshop principles. Use when onboarding to a project, defining a quality bar, setting an assessment checklist, or arbitrating between review-design and write-code. Do NOT use for the design "why" layer (use review-design) or concrete tool/pattern picks (use write-code). For day-to-day…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Code Quality > **Layering:** Foundational why; `review-design` and `write-code` build on this. Use this skill when defining the quality bar or arbitrating between principles (`review-design`) and operational picks (`write-code`). ## The Workshop Principle Different writers, same pragma. Every tool, library, and script should feel like it came from the same workshop. The way Microsoft tools feel consistent, the way Google tools share a coherent design language; our code should have that same unity. A developer who has used one of our CLIs should feel at home in any other. An AI agent that has parsed one project's JSON output should know what to expect from the next. This is not about aesthetics. Consistency reduces cognitive load for both audiences: - **Developers** spend less time learning conventions and more time solving problems - **AI agents** parse structured output, consume skills-as-docs, and navigate codebases via AGENTS.md Every convention in our skill system (JSON output, color semantics, commit style, file organization) traces back to this principle. If a decision doesn't serve consistency or intentionality, question it. ## The Dual Audience …

How to install
mdr add urmzd/dotfiles/assess-quality@sha256:84ceab96e06d0e41The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261029.73191d5, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
