Manually closes a shipped, abandoned or superseded design — checks shipment evidence, promotes durable residue, stamps frontmatter and closes the epic.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Close Design A design doc is `active` only while it is the living design authority. Once the work lands, is dropped, or is replaced, the doc freezes and its durable residue belongs in canon. This skill owns that transition. This skill is only manually invoked by the human, including sweep and retroactive cases. Closing implementation or review work and delivering a ready PR never invokes it automatically. The design and epic remain active until manual terminal closeout. Do not poll for merge. ## Stop before you start - The initiative is still live — a doc with open work items under its epic is `active` by definition, and freezing it strands the work. Only the sweep case below reads a still-`active` doc. - You are here to close a bead, not a doc. How to install
mdr add arminzou/dotbrain/close-design@sha256:2fdda9e4b031fb87The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261017.5b1062d, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
