Iterates from an active design doc in Goal mode for an explicit automation handoff with a mechanical verifier and hard stop.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.

# Iterate Design Use the agent harness's Goal mode when available. Otherwise, keep work in the same task and make bounded repeated turns. Do not build or invoke a dotbrain loop runner. dotbrain supplies context, state boundaries, and reflection rules; the coding agent runs the loop. ## When to use This loop drives the handoff workflow and is human-triggered: the human explicitly hands off to it as an automation handoff (for example via `/iterate-design`), and it runs on a dedicated branch — never directly on `main`. Use when: - Work has an active design doc in `.brain/designs/`. - The task needs more than one ordinary turn but has a verifiable stopping condition. - A linked bead or epic exists, or the user explicitly points at a design doc. Do not use for one-off fixes, pure triage, open-ended brainstorming, or work without a verification story. Reach for `manage-work-graph`, `find-unknowns`, `grill-decisions`, or `to-design` first. ### Loop-worthiness check Before starting the loop, confirm all five hold. How to install
mdr add arminzou/dotbrain/iterate-design@sha256:f36dcd8998150753The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261022.f24169b, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
