thermo-nuclear-code-quality-review from vintasoftware/vinta-ai-workflows is an agent skill: a SKILL.md folder an AI agent loads when a task calls for it.
Run an extremely strict maintainability review of a diff — abstraction quality, giant files, and spaghetti-condition growth. This is a deep, on-demand structural audit, harsher than the normal per-phase review: it hunts for "code judo" reframes that make whole branches, helpers, modes, or layers disappear rather than polishing what's there. Use when the user asks for a "thermo-nuclear code quality review", "thermonuclear review", "deep code quality audit", or "harsh maintainability review", or…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Thermo-nuclear code quality review
An intentionally severe maintainability audit. The normal review checks that a change is correct, tested, and in-convention. This review asks a harder question: **is the change structured as well as it could be, or did it grow complexity that a better framing would have avoided?**
The mindset is **ambitious structural simplification**, not incremental cleanup. Look for reframes that make whole branches, helpers, modes, conditionals, or layers disappear entirely — a "code judo" move that preserves behavior while collapsing the structure. Do not approve a change merely because it works.
This is a heavy, deliberate pass. It is **not** part of the automatic per-phase review — run it when asked, or when a change is large or architectural enough to deserve a dedicated structural pass. (See "Relationship to the standard review flow" below.)
## When to use / when to skip
Use it when:
- The user explicitly asks for a thermo-nuclear / deep / harsh maintainability review.

The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261005.b66091f, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
