This skill should be used when a task needs its scope contract written or changed, for example "define scope", "write acceptance criteria", "what does this task have to do", "add a non-goal", "add a criterion", "change the contract", or "scope this task". It runs a conversation that produces alignment.json, holding the goal, the expected result, the acceptance criteria and the non-goals a person approves before a build starts.
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Scope Scope decides exactly what a task will do, and writes it down so nothing later has to guess. It does not research, design or build, and it does not verify itself: it can be checked for shape, never for whether the contract is right. That is why this is a conversation with a person, not a form. The record is `alignment.json`, in the task's own folder, beside `task.json` and `task.md`. `alignment.md`, beside it, is rendered from it for a person to read. Nothing ever parses `alignment.md` back. Every write below goes through `scope-actions.sh`. A no to the surfaces offer below runs `surfaces-actions.sh decline`. Both are named in this skill's own grant, so they run without asking. Any other Bash command still asks for approval. `scope-actions.sh` takes a text value from a file. Write the text with the Write tool in the session's scratchpad folder. With no scratchpad, write it in the task folder, and delete it after the call. Then pass `@/<absolute path>` as the value. Use this for a text that names a command, such as git. Claude Code refuses a command whose quoted text names git when the session works in a worktree. ## Determine the run mode …

How to install
mdr add camoa/claude-skills/scope@sha256:771ced1a9a3ebbd0The line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261028.e2c6db6, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
