Post-commit step of the implementation chain — judge whether the work just implemented warrants refactoring and, when it does, perform the refactoring in the same invocation: structure-only changes, tests stay green, committed as its own refactor(scope) commit unless the user's instructions say not to. Strongly decline-biased; the most common outcome is a one-line "no refactor warranted" with zero artifacts. Runs only on a committed feature baseline — run by the implement chain after the…
Collected from public GitHub. Every version is saved exactly as it was and never changes. Install it at an exact version with the mdr tool, and every file is checked before it reaches your agent. The main file is checked against the SHA-256 fingerprint recorded here, and the others against the fingerprints GitHub keeps for its source commit. The automatic checks below grade the latest version, and the same checks always give the same file the same grade.
What the file says
# Refactor Pass The last judgment step of the standard implementation chain: implement (`implement-from-requirements` or `implement-from-discovery`) → `deliverable-review` → `test-hardening` → *feature commit* → **`refactor-pass`** → *push, when the default covers it*. The chain steps ask "does the work do what was asked, and do the tests prove it?" This pass asks a different question: **now that it works, is proven, and is safely committed, did building it leave the code structurally worse — and is fixing that worth doing right now?** Then, if the answer is yes, it does the fixing. One invocation covers both the judgment and the work: there is no separate "assessment" deliverable to carry into another session. …

How to install
mdr add ensodynamics/enso-method/refactor-pass@sha256:be40464d63109e2fThe line at the top of this page pins the label git:20261027.66c352a, which is what most people want. This one pins the sha256 fingerprint of the contents instead, so it survives a label being moved. Either way the exact version is written to mdr.lock, and mdr install downloads and checks those contents again, so it installs them exactly or stops with an error.
